6 Things We Already Know About Jennifer Lawrence And Amy Schumer’s Movie

These comedy queens are ready to own us all again.

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence have been making our celeb BFF dreams come true for the better part of a year now, if you can believe it, and we’re about to have something legit to show for all their behind-the-scenes bestie-ing. Well, besides all those human pyramid and table-dancing pics and their podium play at the Golden Globes, we mean.

See, the ladies recently finished tapping up a first draft of their sure-to-drop-us-all comedy pic together, which means step one is DONE and this is actually happening.

Not only that, but they’ve been shelling out minor (pssh, everything is pretty major we these two) details left and right about what we can expect from their as-yet-unnamed movie together.

Here’s what they’ve told us so far.

  1. They’re going to play sisters.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler made us wait actual decades before they finally went there with the sisterly stuff, but A+J are bringing it first thing. And according to Amy, art is definitely imitating real life with this on-screen relash. “We’re sisters,” she explained to Access Hollywood in October. “It’s funny, it’s dirty, it’s real. It’s like us.”

If by “like us” she is at all referring to that whole thing she said about her being the Danny DeVito to Jen’s Ahnold, then we are in for something really special here.

  2. But their characters are definitely not twinning at life.

Jennifer and Amy have been slyly running the lookalike routine for anyone who’s been paying attention, but their cinematic counterparts are gonna be total opposites – at least, at first.

Jen spilled the 411 to ET Online in November, saying that while Amy’s character is “very together” and is pursuing a life-long dream of being a flight attendant, she’ll be playing a woman who’s a hot “mess.”

Which means she’ll probably fall in the movie, right? She pretty much has to at some point.

  3. This is a girl’s club.

This one might be one for the Bechdel Test books because according to Jen, this is all about the gals and “there’s really not really boys in it,” she said. Is this great news or great news?

  4. We can throw out that pesky rule book.

Plot predictability is going by the wayside where these girls are concerned because according to Amy, Jen’s writing consistently zig-zags from the expectation line. “She doesn’t play by the rules,” Schumer told E! Online.

“She can be out there in a really cool way where you thought that you understood a scene and then she’ll just kind of turn it.”

  5. It’ll probably be Rated R.

As with Amy’s Trainwreck, the film that inspired Jen to reach out to her “cosmic”-ally connected new pal, these girls are cooking up something totally NSFW here. “We both have very similar senses of humor, obviously, and aren’t afraid,” Jen said of their co-writing process. “Which is a good and bad thing because I don’t know what our movie will be rated.” From all the “dirty” talk, we’re guessing this isn’t going to make it onto any family channels, which … bring it.

  6. We’re going to straight pee our pants.

After the two “officially” finished writing a real draft of their movie this month, Jen told BBC 6 Music that it’s freaking “hilarious” and the whole process of writing and reading it had her laughing so hard. Which roughly translates to we all better bring back-up undies to the theaters for this thing because it’s a real wizzer.

“It was hilarious, because when you’re writing a comedy it’s not good enough unless you’re laughing out loud,” she said. “So I’m laughing at my pages and I’m laughing at her pages and thinking that the whole process is hilarious. I’m thinking we’ve got a pretty funny, good movie.”

And now we wait (impatiently).
