The Most Inspiring Thing About 'Sports Illustrated''s Oldest Swimsuit Model May Surprise You

Beyond the obvious reason 56-year-old Nicola Griffin is a boss.

Nicola Griffin. Remember the name.

The 56-year-old babe is officially the oldest woman to be in a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, thanks to the brilliant Swimsuits For All #SwimSexy campaign (which included the fabulously curvy Ashley Graham last year, as the first plus-sized model in the issues' ads).

Fearlessly rocking her curves and silver hair, Nicola is the definition of a boss bitch in this year's addition:

Can you even?

The gorg, golden-clad goddess told Huffington Post: "I am overjoyed to represent all women over the age of 50 and hope this campaign inspires them to feel confident in a swimsuit -- a gold bikini, no less! I am a proud mother and love that my body reflects that."

I'm dead.

But it may come as a surprise that her age, glorious curves and shamelessness in showing a body that has been through pregnancy aren't what originally got her gigs. It was her "mane of grey/silver hair." Her locks are what initially helped her get discovered and believe it or not, she embarked on a modeling journey later in life: less than just two years ago. On her site, she says it all happened when she was "hunted by White Hot Hair company" out of the blue. "Suddenly, I had a new career knocking on my door that was the beginning of a new chapter in my life; life as a mature model. I found an agent and haven’t looked back!"

That she hasn't.

After a leap of faith and hella confidence, Nicola found herself in a position women who have modeled for a lifetime only dream of: in one of the most globally-recognized publications, breaking history. And unexpectedly, at 56, nevertheless.

Like I said, boss bitch.
