Kendrick Lamar Pays Tribute to Compton and Africa at the 2016 Grammys

We're here for it.

Kendrick Lamar, who has already snagged five Grammy awards, just put on a show-stopping medley of songs from his Grammy award-winning album To Pimp a Butterfly.

Lamar's performance opened with him walking out onto the stage in chains in what appeared to be a prison scene. He started by performing "The Blacker The Berry," later transitioning into "Alright," which has won him an award for Best Rap Performance. Lamar paid tribute to his hometown of Compton with a black and white backdrop that also showed an outline of Africa to close it out.

Lamar's Grammy performance was poignant and exceptional. In case you missed it, watch Lamar's rendition of "Alright" here.
