Taylor Swift won Album of the Year for 1989 at the 2016 Grammy Awards Monday night, and she passive aggressively called out Kanye West during her acceptance speech.
In West’s new song “Famous,” he references Swift in the lyrics, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that bitch famous (God damn)/I made that bitch famous.” This was the topic of controversy earlier this week, with West claiming Swift approved the lines and TayTay’s team saying she disapproved of the misogynistic words.
If Swift’s curt acceptance speech is any indication of the truth, she is not on board with the, “I made that bitch famous” lyric. She not-so-casually called West out when she said the following:
“…there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday, when you get where you are going, you will look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world. Thank you for this moment.”
Yikes! That’s pretty angry from an Album of the Year acceptance speech, am I right?
*Waits anxiously for a West Twitter response.*
