Amber Rose Talks “Accepting” Kim Kardashian, Compares Herself to Beyoncé

Hear Muva out, BeyHive.

It’s been quite a week for Amber Rose.

The businesswoman famously stood up for Kim Kardashian last week after Kardashian practically broke the Internet with her nude selfie. Now, Rose is elaborating on her relationship with Kardashian, and she’s calling for something greater than either of them: sisterhood among all women.

Speaking to The Daily Beast, Rose said the following about Kardashian: “The thing is, me and Kim will probably—I won’t say we’ll never be friends, but we accept each other for who we are, and that’s the most important thing as women.” She added that she and Kanye still “don’t get along,” but that Rose and Kardashian are able to move on “knowing that the Internet is mostly what gave us the beef we had.”

Rose continued to make a point about how people view sexuality differently when it comes to various celebrities. She made the following comparison between her own career and Beyoncé’s, pointing out that her past—and Kardashian’s—continues to garner criticism. Via the Beast:

“’It’s bullshit, and this is the thing: They come at me and Kim so hard because I was a stripper and she had a sex tape,’ says Rose, who used to strip in her teen years to help provide for her family. ’So if we could sing, it would be OK if we were on stage half-naked. We all love Beyoncé, but she’s on stage half-naked and twerking all the time, yet people say, oh, she has talent so she’s able to do that. We don’t have the talent that Beyoncé has, so we get criticized as former sex workers, but at the end of the day we’re just women—we’re all women—and we should all embrace each other. No one is greater. We’re all the same. So, to criticize us as incapable of being smart businesswomen because Kim has a reality show and I’m a socialite and we don’t sing is stupid. We’ve both been in movies, and we take our acting, business ventures, and everything else very seriously.'”

Rose tweeted out the following message for the BeyHive this morning in an effort to further clarify her comments.

Rose also spoke to the Beast about the double standard that’s alive and well in Hollywood. She noted that people generally don’t talk about Channing Tatum’s past as a stripper, nor do they label Brad Pitt as a “former McDonald’s worker.” And yet, for Rose and Kardashian, the past is brought up time and time again.
