Melissa McCarthy Is Returning to 'Gilmore Girls', and All Is Right with the World

SOOKIE FOREVER.

Today is the greatest day.

Yes, it's Friday, but more importantly...MELISSA MCCARTHY IS JOINING THE GILMORE GIRLS REBOOT. This not a drill or a delayed April Fool's Day prank. McCarthy is 100 percent, as-sure-as-we're-breathing reprising her role of Sookie and returning to Stars Hollow. Our favorite TV chef is coming back to life, y'all!

McCarthy announced the big news on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week. "Literally about an hour and a half ago, we figured out that I’m going to go back and do it, and I am so excited," McCarthy told host Ellen DeGeneres. We are, too. Actually, we're peeing ourselves, but let's blaze past that.

The confirmation comes after months of rumors that McCarthy wasn't joining the Gilmore Netflix reboot because of scheduling conflicts.

The show's creator Amy Sherman-Palladino told Entertainment Weekly before McCarthy joined the reboot that she had already written Sookie's part. "I know what the scene is," she said. "I’ll pre-light it for her. She can drive up, run in, shoot it, and run out. I can get her in and out in two hours. If she finds that time, I don’t care when it is, we will make it happen.”

Looks like we all received our wish. It's happening. Now, every living cast member is on board. Here, here!
