Professional bb Ariana Grande graced us with her presence at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards Sunday night (April 10), and she took us back in time. Literally. The pop star gave a Marilyn Monroe-inspired performance of her slinky new single “Dangerous Woman” that delivered copious old Hollywood feels. Is it 1956 or 2016? I’m confused, and Ari is responsible.
Jokes aside, Grande killed the number. Clad in a floor-length pink gown and white fur–we’re guessing faux–Ms. Grande sauntered past old-school paparazzi, grabbed the throwback microphone and let her pipes go to work. Broadway heavy-hitter Jason Robert Brown assisted Grande on the piano, augmenting the black-and-white aesthetic beautifully. Come through, Bette Davis! Come TF through.
Grande, we’re on the floor. Productivity will prove impossible today.
