Harriet Tubman just found a new home on the $20 bill.
Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced Wednesday the iconic suffragist who led slaves to freedom through the Underground Railroad will replace former president Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill. According to NBCNews.com, advocates originally wanted a woman to appear on the $10 bill, replacing Alexander Hamilton. However, a recent surge in Hamilton’s popularity–no doubt influenced by the hit Broadway musical Hamilton–changed things a bit. Now, Tubman will appear on the $20, and famous suffragists will be featured on the back of the $10. Girl power. Coin power. So much power.
And Twitter is liiit about the Tubman news. From “Yaaas”-tinged tweets to funny memes, check out the best reactions to Lady Harriet’s latest (green) shine.
