Singer Prince has passed away, TMZ reports.
According to the website, his body was discovered Thursday (April 21) at his Paisley Park property in Minnesota.
Cause of death is unknown at this time, but TMZ writes the artist had to abruptly land his plane in Illinois on April 15 because of a medical problem. The next day, he performed at a concert, but he allegedly had the flu.
Prince also cut two recent gigs because of health issues, TMZ reports.
Born Prince Rogers Nelson on June 7, 1958, Prince sold more than 100 million records worldwide and is widely recognized as a funk icon. He released his debut album For You in 1978 but reached international fame with his 1982 album 1999.
He followed that up with 1984’s Purple Rain, his most successful LP to date which is considered one of the best albums of all time. He went on to release a staggering 39 studio albums, rack up seven Grammy Awards and an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score (1985’s Purple Rain).
