Spike Lee Shares His Favorite Memory of Prince

"Everyone out here is mourning his loss, but at the same time, celebrating him," Lee told us exclusively.

Spike Lee threw an amazing block party tributing Prince Thursday night (April 21). Thousands of fans gathered in Fort Greene, Brooklyn to celebrate the funk icon, who passed away at his Paisley Park compound Thursday (April 21). VH1's Sway Calloway caught up with Lee at the party, and the director shared some touching recent memories he has of Prince.

"The last time there was an All-Star game in New York City, we sat together, and he had me dying," Lee told Calloway at the party. "He was a basketball encyclopedia!"

Lee continued, "He loved to play, too. He played in heels!" (This is a reference to a Chapelle Show skit.)

The scene at Fort Greene was truly moving, and Lee said the event was both in memoriam and praising the music legend. "Everyone out here is mourning his loss, but at the same time, celebrating him," Lee explained.
