KFC Takes Its Own Slogan Literally, Ventures Into Edible Nail Polish
This is the most genius thing KFC has done since coming out with the $5 fill up.
Fast food chain KFC has announced that it is venturing into the beauty world by way of edible nail polish. That is literally not even a joke. KFC, who has been selling you biscuits and tubs of fried chicken for decades, will now be selling nail polish that you can taste. Is this gross? Absolutely. Is it also kind of amazing? Totally.
KFC isn't mass producing the nail polish yet, according to Adweek, but there is hope. The site reports that a KFC rep from marketing and communications company Ogilvy said the new nail polish campaign is "designed to be intriguing and fun to increase excitement around the KFC brand in Hong Kong." KFC also apparently made a crazy, futuristic music video for the polish. You can (and should) view it here.
From Adweek:
"Ogilvy & Mather worked with food technologists at McCormick, the spice company that provides KFC's secret mix of 11 secret herbs and spices, to crate the nail polishes for KFC Hong Kong. The polish flavors are sourced from natural ingredients and based on the brand's two favorite recipes, Original and Hot & Spicy."
You apply the nail polish as you normally would, "and then lick—again and again and again," according to KFC's statement. We should also note that the bottle designs are A+. Here's a screenshot of the two colors (flavors?), from KFC's music video.
No word yet on pricing, but here's hoping there's some sort of bucket deal where you can buy these in bulk. Also hoping these babies make it stateside. I plan on getting my nails done this summer and I'd like my manicure (and pedicure) to be finger lickin' good.
