Today is a very tragic moment for U.S. history. Early Sunday morning, a deadly mass shooting occurred in Orlando reportedly leaving 50 dead, and over 50 people injured making this the worst mass shooting the U.S. has ever faced.
Logo, who has in-depth coverage of the shooting, reports that the attack happened at an LGBT nightclub, and is being held as a possible case of domestic terrorism by the FBI. The shooter, Omar Mateen, reportedly had links to Islamic fundamentalism.
Mateen’s father has already come forward and given some notable information about his son and what could’ve possibly been his motive. According to Logo, Mir Seddique spoke with NBC News about his son’s actions, saying “this has nothing to do with religion.” He believes todays incident stems from Mateen’s dislike of Gay men after “seeing two men kissing each other in front of his wife and kid and he got very angry.”
As more updates about the Orlando shooting, Omar Marteen, and the reasoning behind the attacks unfold head over to Logo here as they are giving updated in-depth reports all day. Our prayers go out to everyone affected by today’s tragedy.
President Obama has also addressed the nightclub shooting calling it “an act of terror and an act of hate.” Watch below.
