Lil Mama Dishes on Her Influences at 'VH1 Hip Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens'
Many of your favorite celebrities are walking down the VH1 Hip Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens pink carpet right now, including Lil Mama, who slayed in a strapless black dress. The rapper talked to VH1 Live host Marc Lamont Hill about what tonight's honorees--Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott, Lil' Kim and Salt-N-Pepa featuring Dj Spinderella--mean to her.
"I've been influenced by Missy, Kim, Queen Latifah, Salt-N-Pepa. I've been influenced by Lauryn Hill heavily," Lil Mama said. "I've been influenced by so many artists."
One lesson these ladies taught Lil Mama was not to stay in a box, something that women in hip-hop find themselves battling every day. "My fans and more so my supporters--they are very, very supportive of what I do," she said.
And they'll continue to support Lil Mama's future projects, including new music. "2016: gotta lotta music dropping," she said.
