Plus-size model and general queen Tess Holliday appeared on the Amber Rose Show last Friday (July 15), and she dished about sex, love and so much more. However, there was an even more candid part of their conversation that didn’t make the air. But don’t worry! We have it right here for you.
If you didn’t know, Holliday started the #EffYourBeautyStandards hashtag in 2015, and it has since given women (and men!) the confidence to embrace their bodies exactly as they are. However, what inspired Holliday to start the movement? It all began with a photo.
“I got tired of people telling me that I had to wear certain things because of my size,” Holliday said. “You can’t wear tight stuff. You can’t wear stripes. You can’t do this. I was like, ’F-ck! I guess I’m just ’gonna be naked all the time.’ You know what I mean?”
Holliday turned her frustration into progression. She stopped listening to people telling her what she should look like and started following her own inner strength. “F-ck this,” she said. “I’m ’gonna do what I want, I’m ’gonna be who I want. I posted a photo. I hashtagged #EffYourBeautyStandards, and it’s caught on.”
Holliday also discussed breastfeeding with Muva. Lady Tess caught flack for uploading a photo of herself breastfeeding, but she isn’t here for any negativity. “It was something that I was proud of and I wanted to share the moment,” Holliay said. “People were like, ’Put your t–ty away!’ And I was like ’Excuse you, t–ty?!’…Leave my boob alone!”
Watch the rest of Holliday’s thoughts on breastfeeding below and her words on body-shaming above. The Amber Rose Show airs Fridays at 11/10c.
