If you’ve been living under a rock for the past four days, then we need to quickly catch you up on all the Kim Kardashian/Taylor Swift/Kanye West drama. Kardashian uploaded a Snapchat video Sunday (July 17) of Swift chatting with West about the song “Famous”–you know, the track where West raps, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that b–h famous.” Swift doesn’t hear the lyric “that b–ch,” but the conversation does prove she knew more about the song than she let on, causing the Internet to dub her a liar and throw a digital #KimExposedTaylorParty.
Now, Amber Rose is weighing in on all of this. Muva addressed “Famous”-gate on the Amber Rose Show Friday (July 22), and she actually–wait for it–defended West.
According to Rose, West felt super guilty after infamously stealing Swift’s moment at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, and he wouldn’t repeat the same mistake by trolling her on “Famous.” (To refresh your memory, West took the mic from Swift during her 2009 VMAs acceptance speech for Best Female Video to declare that Beyoncé deserved the prize more for “Single Ladies.”)
“I was next to [West] at the VMAs [in 2009],” she said. “I remember the repercussions after that. And I remember Taylor’s mother and father coming up to us and saying, ’One day, Kanye, you’re ’gonna have a daughter and somebody’s ’gonna do that to you.’ He was so remorseful. He really felt so bad, because it wasn’t about Taylor. It was about Beyoncé and her video…He really went through a lot of bulls–t, and I know that Kanye would never ever go through that again by not calling Taylor.”
But don’t think Rose is getting soft on West. Yes, she came to his defense here, but she is still salty about not getting a heads up about her wax figure cameo in the “Famous” video.
“Why didn’t I get a phone call for using a naked wax figure in your video, Kanye?” Rose said. “Taylor gets a call, but I don’t get a call?!”
Valid point. Watch the moment go down in the video above, and check out the Amber Rose Show Fridays at 11/10c.
