Is Donald Trump Using the Death of Dwyane Wade’s Cousin as Fuel to Gain Black Voters?

Trump's twitter fingers have landed him in a hot spot... again.

Friday was a sad day.

NBA Star Dwyane Wade took to Twitter to share tragic news that his cousin was shot and killed during a crossfire in south Chicago. CNN reports, his cousin, Nykea Aldridge, died while pushing a stroller down a South Side Chicago street when several men started shooting at each other. Sadly, Nykea was struck twice, once in the head and arm, and died 45 minutes later in a nearby hospital.

People are outraged over the incident including Wade who recently opened up about gun violence during his “call for action” monologue at the 2016 ESPYs. On Thursday, Wade also spoke via satellite on a panel hosted by ESPN that was focused on gun violence. He called the issue “deep-rooted.”

“This is something that didn’t start today, this is something that isn’t going to end tomorrow,” he said. “Hopefully, eventually, we can stop it.” The very next day his cousin was shot and killed.

Many have taken to social media to express their anger including presidential candidate, Donald Trump, but his intent is very unclear.

This tweet has struck a nerve with the majority of his followers. Is this a genuine sympathetic tweet of condolence and a means to educate followers about the consequence of gun violence, or is this just a cruel attempt to grab black votes? Twitter thinks the latter.

Let us know what you think of Mr. Trump’s tweet in the comments below. Also, our condolences go out to Wade’s family. Rest in Peace, Nykea Aldridge.
