6 Reasons We Didn’t Need an Introduction to Teyana Taylor

Kanye West's "Fade" video is far from the first time she's been in the spotlight.

Last night, Kanye West premiered his new music video for “Fade” at the MTV VMAs. The video stars Teyana Taylor in what appears to be homage to Flashdance and Olivia Newton-John’s famous “Physical” clip. Watch the video below.

Now, it might be fairly obvious to you that it’s Teyana Taylor who spends the entire video making you feel like you need to hit the gym, but that wasn’t the case for everyone. Cosmopolitan jumped out of the window with a tweet “introducing” Taylor to the world, and was subsequently dragged for it.

They followed that up with this post on all the things you need to know about her.

So, why doesn’t the world need an introduction to Teyana Taylor? Let’s go.

She signed to Kanye West’s record label, G.O.O.D. Music, in 2012. She was a staple on G.O.O.D. Music’s compilation album, Cruel Summer, and also starred in Kanye’s film of the same title.

Her EP, VII #thecassettetape 1994, was one of the hottest records in recent memory.

She had quite possibly the most famous episode of My Super Sweet Sixteen, which let us know that she’s had Pharrell’s co-sign ever since she was a teenager.

She had a really successful shoe deal with Adidas.

Everyone knows she just had a baby with NBA star Iman Shumpert.

And her Hip-Hop Honors performance was one for the ages.
