Colin Kaepernick’s quest to raise awareness about police brutality has been making headlines for the past few weeks. His refusal to stand for the “The Star Spangled Banner” has created a huge debate over patriotism and racism.
The San Francisco 49ers quarterback’s silent protest has garnered so much attention that he’s now featured on the cover of Time magazine. Sporting his 49er’s uniform and freshly braided cornrows, Kaepernick is photographed in his controversial kneeling position.
Not only is Colin Kaepernick speaking out against police brutality, he’s putting his money where his mouth is. The backup QB has pledged to donate $1 million to various charities that support underprivileged communities. The California native has garnered widespread support across the nation (a slew of celebrities are among his backers) and hate for his protest.
