YouTube Star James Charles Makes History As CoverGirl's First Male Brand Ambassador

CoverGirl has a new brand ambassador on the scene and for the first time in history, it's a boy! That's right, social media maven James Charles is CoverGirl's first CoverBoy.

Fellow CoverGirl ambassador Katy Perry announced the big news on social media writing, "Just wrapped another great CoverGirl shoot. Honored to have the pleasure to announce the very first CoverBoy, James Charles!"

The 17-year-old excitedly took to Instagram beaming, "I am so honored and excited to be working with such an iconic brand. I started my Instagram one year ago to inspire others and as an artistic outlet to challenge myself creatively. I truly hope that this shows that anyone and everyone can wear makeup and can do anything if you work hard."

Charles, who is a New York based makeup artist, is slated to appear in CoverGirl's "So Lashy" mascara campaign that will premiere later on this month.

With 441,000 Instagram followers, James Charles became a viral sensation after slaying a fierce yearbook shoot last month.
