Kanye West and Kim Kardashian Helped Alton Sterling’s Son Celebrate His Birthday

Sweet 16.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian did a really dope thing during his Saint Pablo tour stop in Inglewood, California on Tuesday. They met with Cameron Sterling, the son of Alton Sterling, to wish his a happy birthday.

According to a Twitter post by attorney Justin Bamberg, Cameron Sterling was at the concert celebrating his 16th birthday and linked up with the A-list couple backstage. The attorney shared a photo of Cameron standing between the couple and captioned the Twitter picture: “Shoutout to @kanyewest & @KimKardashian for showing 16th bday love last night to my client #CameronSterling, eldest son of #AltonSterling.”

As a Kanye stan, watching the rapper perform in person is probably one of the most memorable experiences, but getting to meet him and Kim Kardashian backstage? That’s an unforgettable birthday gift.

Bamberg is part of a legal team representing Cameron and his family, after his father was fatally shot by white police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana earlier this year. Sterling’s death launched numerous protests all across the country. One of the lasting impression from the tragedy was a viral video of Cameron breaking down emotionally at a press conference following his father’s death.

Surely that moment touched Kim Kardashian and inspired her to join the conversation with a blog post titled “StraightUp, #BlackLivesMatter.” She wrote the following in her plea for justice.

“This week we watched Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, two innocent black men, get senselessly murdered by police officers. Like a lot of you guys, I watched the videos, and was appalled and completely heartbroken. I was left speechless, angry and numb,” she wrote. “I want my children to grow up knowing that their lives matter. I do not ever want to have to teach my son to be scared of the police, or tell him that he has to watch his back because the people we are told to trust—the people who “protect and serve”—may not be protecting and serving him because of the color of his skin.”

This is an amazing glo-day for young Cameron.
