14 Times VH1 Divas Flexed Their Girl Power With Fierce Collaborations

No catfights and drama over here.

By Jasmine Grant

VH1 Divas: Unsilent Night will be one for the books. Not only will we get to see legends and rising stars share one stage to deliver our most cherished holiday tunes - we may even get some collaborations out of the mix. As we get ready to usher in the holiday installment, Unsilent Night, let's reflect on past VH1 Divas headliners who kept the spirit of girl power alive and joined forces via collaborations. After all, two stellar vocalists are always better than one!

Whitney Houston ft. Mariah Carey "When You Believe"

Mariah Carey and the late great Whitney Houston, two of the biggest pop divas ever to belt out a high note, joined forces for the power ballad "When You Believe." This was around the time when tabloids tried to drum up drama between the two vocal powerhouses, although they insisted they were good friends.

Nicki Minaj ft. Beyoncé "Feeling Myself"

Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj are full of surprises - especially their pop-up video for "Feeling Myself" from Nicki's 2014 album The Pink Print. The two poster girls for flawlessness turned Coachella into their playground. No divas have ever made cheeseburgers and kiddie pools look this good.

Ciara ft. Nicki Minaj "I'm Out"

Ciara and Nicki Minaj took Michael and Janet Jackson's iconic video for "Scream" and pumped new life into it with their futuristic video for their collaborative single "I'm Out." Everything from the wardrobe and glam to the dance moves and editing was out of this world - literally!

Beyoncé ft. Shakira "Beautiful Liar"

In this hypnotizing, dance-inspired track, Beyoncé and Shakira tell the tale of two women who discover they've been seduced by the same man. Rather than fighting over this "beautiful liar," they join forces in hip-winding glory instead. That's the spirit ladies!

Brandy & Whitney Houston "Impossible" (From the "Cinderella" Soundtrack)

Whitney played Brandy's fairy godmother on screen in the 1997 adaptation of Cinderella, which closely mirrored their bond in real life. Their chemistry on screen is magical, whimsical and one that Brandy has cherished since Whitney's passing.

Mary J. Blige ft. Patti LaBelle

Supreme diva Aretha Franklin's immortalized ballad "Ain't No Way" has been remade time and time again. But the achy vocals from Mary J. Blige and Patti LaBelle gave this an extra dose of soul.

Chaka Khan featuring Mary J. Blige "Disrespectful"

Chaka Khan is a funk legend that's never hesitant to share her light with other divas. Chaka pulled in the raw vocals of Mary J. Blige for assistant on this funk-tafied dance hit.

Brandy ft. Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight & Tamia "Missing You" (Set It Off Soundtrack)

When vocal powerhouses like Brandy, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight and Tamia come together for an emotional tribute of this magnitude, its hard to get through the entire song without shedding a tear. "Missing You" was a standout on the soundtrack for the shoot-em-up flick Set It Off where only one of the main characters survives. Grab your Kleenexes and press play.

Jessie J featuring Brandy "Conquer The World"

Jessie J and Brandy could literally conquer the world with those insane pipes of theirs. The two artists and past VH1 Divas performers have been singing each other's praises for some time before finally working together. Their voices merge so seamlessly together, we question why they haven't done this sooner.

Mary J. Featuring Aretha Franklin "Ain't No Sunshine"

Queen diva Aretha Franklin doesn't just collaborate with any old body. So the fact that she and Mary J. Blige have linked up on a number of projects, including the song "Ain't No Sunshine" from the Mary album, speaks highly of their chemistry and musical synergy.

Jewel featuring Kelly Clarkson "Foolish Games"

Folk and pop made a harmonious connection by way of Jewel and Kelly Clarkson. Their song "Foolish Games" was recorded specifically for Jewel's Greatest Hits album. "I really wanted to sing that song with a great vocalist, and she was my first pick," Jewel told MTV of the collaboration.

Kelly Rowland featuring Beyoncé "You've Changed"

To call Kelly Rowland and Beyoncé mere collaborators would be selling their relationship short - especially given their status as legacy members of Destiny's Child. But we do love the dope throwback vibes we get when these two former girl group members come together on each other's respective solo projects.

Brandy & Diana Ross "Love Is All That Matters"

This is one duet that, for all intents and purposes, probably isn't as celebrated as it should be. Diana Ross and Brandy got an opportunity to hop on the same ballad, "Love Is All That Matters" by way of the movie Double Platinum in which they played mother and daughter.

Beyoncé ft. The Dixie Chicks "Daddy Lessons"

Beyoncé and The Dixie Chicks shuts down the haters at the 2016 CMA Awards with an acoustic performance of "Daddy Lessons." Despite the country music community's best attempts to exclude Beyoncé from their function because she isn't a country singer, she as always managed to make the naysayers eat their words with the help of DC (also card carrying members of the BeyHive).
