Lamar Odom is Headed Back to Rehab to Work on the Next Chapter of His Life

Looks like Lamar Odom is getting a head start on his new year's resolution.

Earlier E! News confirmed that the retired NBA player recently checked himself into rehab. Now, before fans jump to the conclusion that Lamar backpedaled into any bad habits, think again. Although Lamar's announcement comes shortly after news of his and Khloe's divorce being finalized, a source reveals that his admission into the cushy San Diego facility is completely voluntary.

"It was his own decision. He wanted to work on his mental and physical health for the next chapter of his life. He has not fallen off the wagon, but he understands the importance of maintaining his sobriety."

In other words: Preventative measures are a major key!

Lamar's rehab reveal also comes just a little after a year since his near-death experience at the Love Ranch, where the father of three became unconscious at a high end brothel. Back in October 2015, the former Lakers' forward was rushed from the brothel to the hospital after a bad reaction to drugs left him inches away from death. His children and their mother, along with wife-at-the-time Khloe and her family, all rushed to be by Lamar's side but luckily he pulled through.

Despite battling rumors most of this year that he'd fallen off the wagon, Lamar has luckily not had any major issues with substances, and it appears he wants to keep it that way.
