Nikki and Ahm Face Off, DeeVee's Struggle is Deeper Than Rap, T.I. and Teyana Taylor Join the Mix in 'The Breaks' Supertrailer

The wait is almost over.

In just a few weeks The Breaks will be back, but in the meantime, this supertrailer is here and it's lit!

This month, the VH1 original series The Breaks will pick up where the widely popular film left off last year, but this time with a few new faces. The scene is still 1990 in New York City at the height of hip hop's "Golden Age." The potential power couple David (David Call) and Nikki (Afton Williamson) are still fighting to prove rap's relevancy in a reluctant music industry. Last time we saw Nikki she accepted the job as an assistant to the slick-talking music exec Barry Fouray (Wood Harris) and that working relationship looks like it will lead to some real drama this season. While Nikki stirs things up inside the industry, her best friend, up-and-coming producer DeeVee (Mack Wilds), is still working against all odds to break full-time bad boy and part-time rapper Ahm (Antoine Harris) into the game. Unfortunately, Dee is also working against his father's wishes (played by Method Man), who feels like his son's partnership with the Brooklyn hustler is going to cause more pain than it's worth. And while things are getting crazy for the main characters, a couple familiar faces you know will be adding their talents to the mix. T.I. joins Team Fouray in a very unexpected role, and Teyana Taylor makes a grand introduction as female rapper "Imani X". A bodega worker by day, the aspiring rapper is discovered by Nikki, but also comes with some baggage of her own.

We can hardly wait! The Breaks returns to VH1 Monday, February 20 at 9/8c.
