Ben Affleck Thanks His "Co-Parent" Jennifer Garner As He Opens Up About Battling Alcohol Addiction

"Something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront."

Ben Affleck has revealed that he has completed a treatment stint in rehab for alcohol addiction.

On Tuesday, the actor disclosed his treatment in a lengthy statement on his Facebook page. He states that the latest course of treatment was "the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery." According to BBC, the Batman vs Superman star's on-going battle with drinking stretches back more than 15 years, with his first reported stay in a treatment clinic taking place in 2001. He admits in his online statement that it is something he has "dealt with in the past and will continue to confront."

He continues, "I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step."

He also gives a shout out to his "co-parent, Jen [Garner], who has supported me and cared for our kids as I've done the work I set out to do." The two divorced back in 2015, and we think Ben's drinking problem could've played a major factor. Read his full statement below.

Back in January, the two-time Oscar winner pulled out of directing the next Batman film, because the role "demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give," according to CNN. However, Affleck will still produce and star in the upcoming blockbuster.
