Taraji P. Henson Tears Up While Thanking Her Mom For the Priceless Lessons on Motherhood

Her mother's love is contagious.

Actress Taraji P. Henson has become one of the biggest names in Hollywood, and her MVP mother is partially to thank for the incredible success story. To help spread awareness for the #SeeHer campaign, Henson opens up about her early struggles with trying to make it in Hollywood as well as being a single mother to her son, Marcel.

"The struggle was real for me when my career started to take off," she recalls. Usually, any actor that hears the words "career" and "take off" in the same sentence would be jumping for joy. In this case, it was bittersweet because it took away from mother/son time for Taraji. "My career grew as my son grew. In the earlier years, when I needed to be away from him I relied on my mom, and she would come through in a pinch. That was literally the only person I trusted with my son."

Not only did her mom help raise her child, but also taught the Empire star how to be a great mother.

"My mother taught me how to be a single mother. She did it so effortlessly and brilliantly that I had a great blueprint to follow." She concludes, "She gave me the world by loving me and showing me what unconditional love looks like. I wouldn't trade her for the world."
