By Claire Downs
It’s a rare event, but sometimes a celebrity will come down from the stratosphere of fame, money and swag and help us normies out. Earlier this week we reported on Nicki Minaj’s quest to cover the student loan debt of Barbz who have straight A’s. But Onika isn’t the only star who’s shown fan love by being a good Samaritan. Even celebs who may not seem like philanthropists 24/7 have gone out of their way to surprise loyal devotees and total strangers. See which of your favs are here for the people...it will definitely surprise you!
Waka Flocka Flame
In September of 2017, Waka surprised a mom who suffers from lupus and her son who suffers from cerebral palsy with the most humbled act of kindness. In a post shared by the Shade Room, it's revealed that the rapper gave this family full-paid access to his holistic doctors who have a reputation of providing amazing results. Seems like Waka has also made a new little bestie in the process. Salute to this man for making a difference.
Amy Schumer
Back in 2016, Amy Schumer had a great time seeing Hamilton on Broadway. Such a good time, that she left the theater’s bartenders a $1,000 tip on a bar tab of just $77. While signing the check, Amy told the servers, “I’ve been there, I get it,” referring to her time spent waiting tables in NY. The Inside Amy Schumer star also left a $500 tip on a $49 bill at a Long Island restaurant in 2015.
Chris Hemsworth
When Chris Hemsworth lost his wallet at the airport, he didn’t think he’d get it back. But when 17-year old Tristan Budzyn-Barker found it, he went to great lengths to get it back to the Thor star. As a reward, Hemsworth gave Tristan and his family tickets The Ellen Show, where Ellen presented Tristan with $10,000, and an offer to pay his college tuition.

When Zac Efron’s fan shattered his screen chasing after Zac while Snapchatting, Zac offered to buy him a new phone! According to the fan, “He allowed me to take video with him. He allowed me to come on set to meet him properly and also bought me a new phone which was $949.99 retail.” Sometimes, doing it for the Snap pays off!
Miley Cyrus
One of the most heartfelt moments of the 2014 VMAs was when Miley Cyrus brought Jesse Helt, a homeless teenager as her date to the ceremony. When she won “Video of the Year,” the Wrecking Ball singer asked Helt to accept the award in her place. In the 24 hours following the VMAs, Cyrus raised over $200,000 for the homeless non-profit, My Friend’s Place.
Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake stopped a 2013 performance in Louisville, KY to allow two fans to take the stage. Timberlake told the crowd, “Josh called me earlier, he’s got something he wants to tell you,” before handing over the spotlight. Fan Josh Clemons then got down on one knee and proposed to his GF Kim Martin. She said yes!
Nicki Minaj
There is nothing fraudulent about these acts of kindness from Nicki Minaj. The superstar rapper was on Twitter when some Barbz asked if she’d be willing to cover their student loan debts and she agreed. All it took was for a fan to ask and send over proof of their unique circumstances and Nicki hit their DM with the funds. She's now on the verge of launching a fund to help many more fans financially.
Harry Styles
Earlier this year, Harry Styles hosted SNL and fans waited hours just to score tickets. But the former 1D member wasn’t gonna let his Directioners starve in the cold! Styles sent out everything from coffee to pizza, and even apples and kiwis!
Lin-Manuel Miranda
The Hamilton star and creator came to a fan’s service when she asked him advice on making her first mixtape over Twitter. In a multi-tweet story, Miranda spilled all of his wisdom, secrets, and deep thoughts about cutting a track. How’s that for a free workshop?
