Ice Cube’s Newest Video Just Dropped and It’s Deep

This video is giving us "F Tha Police" meets 2017 vibes.

Before he was an actor or the the Executive Producer of Hip Hop Squares, Ice Cube was a rapper who made it a point to bring attention to issues that plague the black community and even more specifically his hometown, Compton, CA. His newest project is the single “Good Cop, Bad Cop”, which centers around police brutality and racial discrimination at the hands of crooked law enforcement. While he hasn’t released new music in nearly three years, it only makes sense that this is the subject of his newest song.

The new video has striking images of Ice Cube being thrown around by police and a protest scene that looks like all of the Black Lives Matter protest happening around the country over the past year and a half. Ice Cube cites the film based on his rap group, Straight Out of Compton, as an influence for the track because the film made him realize that the same things were happening and “that we needed a more up-to-date version of the community talking to the police“.

The song, with two new others, will appear on the 25th anniversary reissue of his Death Certificate album, which also was released today.
