Michelle Obama Has Some Fitness Inspiration to Refresh Your Summer '17 Bawdy Goals
For some of us, summer 2017 is looking a little struggly in the fitness department. Perhaps June rolled around before you could get it tight and right for the beach. Well if so, snap out of it because Michelle Obama is here to let us know that it's never too late to get back on the horse.
In a spankin' new Instagram post, the former FLOTUS shared a few snapshots from the boot camp she hosted this past weekend. Mrs. Obama says this workout session was actually a tradition she started while in the White House and one she still keeps going today. In a super motivational caption, she explains, "When I was at the White House, I often hosted bootcamp weekends for my close girlfriends. It didn’t matter that we were all at varying fitness levels. Our bootcamp weekends were a reminder that if we want to keep taking care of others, we need to take care of ourselves first. And even though I’m no longer at the White House, I've continued this tradition and wanted to share some photos."
"My girlfriends have been there for me through all kinds of life transitions over the years – including a pretty big one recently!," she continues, "and we’ve done our best to stay healthy together. Whether it’s a bootcamp or a walk around the neighborhood, I hope you and your crew can find some time this summer to be healthy together."
During her time as first lady, one of Mrs. Obama's biggest initiatives was "Let's Move" - an initiative to combat childhood obesity and help families find access to healthy and affordable foods. She even got one of her celeb besties Beyoncé in on the action with the song "Move Your Body."
Michelle Obama's fitness hustle doesn't stop at the bootcamp, either. In between spearheading a successful career, running a family and finding one-on-one time with her hubby, the lovely Mrs. Obama devotes at least an hour and a half to working out each day, no excuses. "I get up in the morning, usually either right before the kids go to school or right after, and I do about an hour and a half workout. I try to do 45 minutes of cardio and then whatever I'm doing that day," she said during a talk with On Air With Ryan Seacrest.
OK then! We officially have no more excuses.
