'True Blood' Star Nelsan Ellis Dies at 39

He was only 39-years-old.

Today is a sad day for fans of HBO's True Blood. Nelsan Ellis, known widely for his role as Lafayette Reynolds on the hit series, has died.

According to TMZ, Ellis, who leaves behind one son, succumbed to complications from heart failure.

Ellis appeared in several films including Little Boxes, The Help, The Stanford Prison Experiment and Lees Daniels' The Butler where he played Martin Luther King Jr.

Rest in peace, Nelsan Ellis.
