'Teen Mom 2' Star Jenelle Evans Reveals She Almost Overdosed and Where Things Stand With Her Mother

She cleaned up her act.

Jenelle Evans's life in front of the 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom 2 cameras has been engulfed in a string of toxic relationships, legal troubles and custody disputes. Now, the 25-year-old reality star admits that the mistakes of her past have actually set her up for a much brighter and healthier future.

In an interview with E! News, Jenelle owns up to her "legendary outbursts" on the show; admitting it was all a result of deep-seated anger from her childhood. “My mom and dad divorced when I was so young. [My dad] moved out and I think that built a lot of my anger up," she explains. "My mom was very hostile, and yelling and screaming all the time."

A huge part of Jenelle's story line is her strained relationship with her mother Barbara, who currently has legal custody of her oldest son Jace. While Jenelle currently sees her son during court-ordered visitation, the resentment towards her mom still lingers. "I think it's an attachment issue...She knows if she gives [Jace] to me that I will cut her off. That will be it. She's scared."

Barbara originally sought custody of Jace due to Jenelle's incessant partying and drug use - a habit Janelle has put behind her after coming close to a drug overdose. "I almost overdosed and died. I was trying to run away from my problems," she admits. "When I started withdrawing for the first time in my life, I was like, ‘This is not the way I want to live,” she explained. “This is scaring the s—t out of me, and I need to get help right now.”

The mom of three is readying her appearance on the upcoming season of Teen Mom 2 which comes back on Monday, July 17th, and has also just released a new book Read Between The Lines: From The Diary Of A Teenage Mother. Check out Jenelle's full interview below.
