JAY-Z Says He and Kanye West Are Patching Things Up, But a Few Things Need to Be Addressed First

Watch the Throne has become watch the friendship.

JAY-Z and Kanye West's awkward rift may finally be coming to an end, according to Hov himself.

In a sit down interview with T, The New York Times Style Magazine, JAY-Z confirms that he and his longtime friend 'Ye are working on repairing their friendship after about a year of not speaking. The falling out reportedly happened with Kanye lashed out his Watch The Throne collaborator on stage at a Sacramento concert. At the time, Kanye was in his feelings about JAY's alleged failure to check in following his wife Kim's robbery in Paris. In his rant, Kanye also accused Beyoncé of rigging the MTV Video Music Awards.

“[I talked to] Kanye the other day, just to tell him, like, he’s my brother,” JAY told Times journalist Dean Baquet. “I love Kanye. I do. It’s a complicated relationship with us…. ‘Cause, you know — Kanye came into this business on my label. So I’ve always been like his big brother. And we’re both entertainers. It’s always been like a little underlying competition with your big brother.”

While JAY-Z alludes to the fact that there is still residual tension between them, he's optimistic that a day will come where it'll all be water under the bridge. In order for that to happen, though, JAY says some boundaries need to be set - particularly when it comes to mentioning his family in their feud.

“Hopefully when we’re 89 we look at this six months or whatever time and we laugh at that. You know what I’m saying? There’s gonna be complications in the relationship that we have to get through,” he continues. “And the only way to get through that is we sit down and have a dialogue and say, ‘These are the things that I’m uncomfortable with. These are the things that are unacceptable to me. This is what I feel.’ I’m sure he feels that I’ve done things to him as well; I’m not a perfect human being by no stretch.”

Back in August, Hov told Rap Radar that he was hurt when West involved his family in their feud. "What really hurt me, you can’t bring my kid or my wife into it. … We’ve gotten past bigger issues, but you brought my family into it, now it’s a problem with me.”

We're hoping these two can get over this hump and be best bros again.
