In case you were living under a rock, you already know that Danity Kane is no longer. And yet, there’s a silver lining to that devastating reality because the journey that we started on MTV’s Making The Band 3 continues in the form of dumblonde, a divine twosome featuring Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex.
On Thursday night (July 2), the duo took to New York City’s Smash Studios to host an exclusive listening party for fans, and we all the highlights from the outing with reaction GIFs, naturally.
1. They’re Back + They’re Challenging Stereotypes
Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex are back and better than ever as a duo called dumblonde. Not only can these girls saaang, but they are one close twosome. Also, if you were wondering why they decided on this particular name, it’s because they wanted to challenge the stereotypes*~ that the industry has thrown at them over and over again. BAM!
2. RIP Danity Kane
Let’s get the elephant out of the way. Aubrey and Shannon said they are all about looking towards the future and putting the past behind them, so let’s all have a brief moment of silence for DK3.
3. Back To Business With Big Names
dumbblonde’s upcoming self-titled album is an “alternative dance record” that will include 11 brand new tracks. Among the collaborators are R8DIO, Dem Jointz and Candice Pillay. During the listening session, they previewed some OMG-worthy cuts like “White Lightning,” “Eyes On Horizons,” “Tender Green Life,” and they were EVERYTHING.
4. They Went Hard On The Videos
They’ve also filmed six videos for the project, which was originally supposed to be an EP. Count em, six.
5. The First Single Is Just Around The Corner
It gets better. They’ve finally received the album’s release date from their label, but we have to be patient for a little while longer before the big reveal. In the meantime, you’ll be happy to know that the first single release will drop later this month and I literally can’t stop telling everyone.
6. They’re Taking It On The Road
You will be also able to catch dumblonde on tour. Aubs and Shan have been rehearsing extensively on a show. They even admitted that they scrapped two stage sets because their #DiddyEsqueExpectations to make this tour something you’ve NEVER seen from them before. BRB. Gotta get ready.
I mean, HELLO.
7. We Had A Blast—And You Will Too!
Oh, and we also sipped some champagne, did a little dancing and took some photos. Now, you tell me how YOU kicked off your Independence Day weekend.
