Watch Tom Hanks' 'Forrest Gump' Audition Tape from the Vault and Be Forever in Our Debt

Once a legend, always a legend. Tom Hanks broke our hearts and made our lives (I was three, and I'm pretty sure I was still effected) with his iconic role as Forrest Gump in 1994, which earned him the Best Actor Oscar. But like any other working actor, he had to audition first. In honor of the film's 21st birthday this week, we found Tom's audition tape, including screen tests with "Jen-nay" (Robin Wright) and Forrest Jr. (baby Haley Joel Osment). You can see that from a calm, cool, and collected yet totally bril acting pro - a cinematic hero was born.
