Gabrielle Union Isn't Afraid to Use Her Voice and We Can Thank Her Mama for That

"I know that I can be a voice for the voiceless."

Whether she's calling out sexism on the Internet or sharing details of her personal experiences in her memoir We're Going to Need More Wine: Stories That Are Funny, Complicated, and True, Gabrielle Union admits that she was never one to be quiet.

And we have her mom, Theresa Union to thank for that. Gabrielle was always encouraged to use her voice, and that has made her the woman who she is today.

She has been open about her experience as a survivor of rape, and she says, "I am going to share my story as often as I can to empower as many other people who've been through bad things, who are facing terrible obstacles, and to constantly remind myself that I am not defined by being a rape survivor. That is something that happened to me, but I have so much self worth that I will live to fight another day...I know that I can be a voice for the voiceless."

Celebrate and honor the woman who made Gabrielle the outspoken activist that she is today by tuning in to Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Moms on Moday, May 7th at 9pm ET/PT.
