Has there been a week where a Kardashian/Jenner isn’t catching heat from someone. Well this weekend its Kylie Jenner. On an Instagram post where Kylie showed off her new cornrows, she caught lots of backlash from all over, but the comments from Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg stood out from them all.
Amandla commented on Kylie’s post saying, “When u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter”
Months ago, Amandla created an authoritative history lesson on black culture and cultural relevancy with her video Don’t Cash Crop On My Cornrows. She dives into the subject of the rise cornrows from black celebrities in the early 2000’s like Alicia Keys and Beyonce and how white celebrities have adopted aspects of black culture as “a way of being edgy and getting attention.”
Kylie’s response doesn’t address the racial issue Stenberg presented but does include a subtle shot, “@amandlastenberg Mad if I don’t, Mad if I do…. Go hang w Jaden or something.”
Side Note: For those who don’t know Amandla took Jaden to her prom earlier this year.

Neither girl nor Jaden Smith have continued the feud since. So Is Amandla in the right, or is she taking Kylie’s cornrows too seriously?
