'Black Ink Crew' Honors the Life of Nipsey Hussle By Giving Free Tattoos Inspired By the Artist and Entrepreneur

"If we put the words of a great man that left a legacy like Nipsey did on our flesh, we'll never forget. We're going to remember a man, a legend, an icon."

Rapper, songwriter and community activist Nipsey Hussle died on March 31st, 2019 after being shot outside of his Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles, California. Fans and celebrities alike have been mourning the passing of a man whose art and activism inspired so many. Hussle left behind long-time girlfriend Lauren London and their 2-year-old son, Kross, as well as his daughter Emani.

In an effort to pay homage to Nipsey, who was just 33 years old, Ceaser and the rest of the Black Ink Crew are giving free tattoos inspired by the rapper and activist to the community. "Homie left a legacy that we all need to remember. This is why we're doing this. You can't just take from the culture," Ceaser says.

He explains that this isn't a promotion and that there isn't any money to be made, but that by putting Nipsey's words on their flesh, these people are immortalizing him. "If we put the words of a great man that left a legacy like Nipsey did on our flesh, we'll never forget. We're going to remember a man, a legend, an icon."

Fans lined the block for the man who they say taught them about being a successful, black entrepreneur. "Nipsey basically bought the same block he used to hustle on. How many of us can say that? This man didn't die in vain, he died for a change and it's a change for our culture."
