6 Years After The VMAs Debacle, Taylor Swift Reveals How She Finally Made Nice With Kanye West

It took help from a higher power: Jay Z.

It's been well established that Taylor Swift has lots of friends, but we never thought she'd count Kanye West among them. Do we even need to get into the reason why? Ever since The Incident in 2009, Taylor had every right to be frosty towards the outspoken rapper. So when we saw the pair acting chummy at the Grammys, we were a tad bit surprised. Dinner dates (of the friendly variety) soon followed, and we were even treated to watching T-Swift busting out her trademark dance moves when Kanye performed "All Day" at this year's BRIT Awards.

How did this minor miracle occur? How was this peace brokered? Well, it took help from a higher power: Jay Z.

"I feel like I wasn’t ready to be friends with [West] until I felt like he had some sort of respect for me," Taylor told Vanity Fair. "And he wasn’t ready to be friends with me until he had some sort of respect for me — so it was the same issue, and we both reached the same place at the same time. I became friends with Jay Z, and I think it was important, for Jay Z, for Kanye and I to get along. ... And then Kanye and I both reached a place where he would say really nice things about my music and what I’ve accomplished, and I could ask him how his kid’s doing."

A little R-E-S-P-E-C-T, mixed with some HOV, equals great things.
