'Power'’s Naturi Naughton Caught up With the Girls of Saving Our Daughters, and It Was All Too Cute
Naturi Naughton's power is her voice, and she wants to put it to good use.
The actress partnered with the Saving Our Daughters organization at the Boys & Girls Club of East LA on Aug. 11. She spoke at the organization’s Cinderellas Performing Arts Program, which is geared toward girls who are interested in performing arts and helps deter bullying. During the discussion, Naturi shared her experiences from her journey to become an actress and how she was able to stay focused – even when the going got tough – as she chased after her dream.
Naturi got her start in the early aughts as a singer in the pop trio 3LW with hits like “No More (Baby I’ma Do Right)” and “Playas Gon’ Play.” She starred as “Lil Kim” in Notorious and appeared on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning musical Hairspray for three years. Now, Naturi plays “Tasha” in the hit series Power on Starz. The season 2 finale is Saturday, Aug. 15.
“I couldn't wait to be a part of Saving Our Daughters because I know how important it is to use my voice as a woman, actress and singer to inspire these young girls,” Naturi said. “They're beautiful, and their futures are bright! It takes each and every person giving back to help them know they can do anything."
