Beyonce Breaks HBO Ratings Record

Let's face the facts: We knew Beyonce wasn't going to reveal anything new in Life Is But a Dream. That didn't keep 1.8 million viewers from tuning in to HBO Saturday night to watch the megastar talk about herself for 90 minutes.

HBO hit the jackpot with LIBAD, its largest ratings for a documentary since Nielsen changed how it measures viewership in 2004. More people tuned in to see Bey's baby bump (because honestly that's what we were all there for) than the 1.7 million viewers who turned to HBO to catch Spike Lee's 2006 miniseries on Hurricane Katrina, When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts. Well Spike, if you have to come behind anyone some would say at least its Beyonce. The OWN Next Chapter interview scored a little over 1.3 million viewers. And of those millions who tuned in, we wonder how many actually think they walked away with a better understanding of who Beyonce the person is. Not the entertainer, but the woman. Not that what us mere peasants think about LIBAD matters because Oprah loved it and 1.8 million people tuned in.
