The gauntlet has been thrown down, y'all! After Justin Timberlake dropped a moody video for "Mirrors" on Tuesday night in which he doesn't even show up until five minutes and 45 seconds have elapsed (!), Robin Thicke decided it was high time to bring some capital F.U.N. back to the R&B game. His new video for "Blurred Lines," featuring starring performances from Pharrell, T.I. and a bevy of supermodels, has captivated the entire editorial floor here at VH1 this morning.

We've been on Team #THICKE since the wayback, and his 2011 album Love After War was one of VH1's Top 10 Albums of 2011. However, this new joint that he dropped has us bumpin' in ways we haven't done for quite some time. Thicke's patented falsetto still drips with sexiness, but this time around, Pharrell's infectious beat —which, to us, seems to be taking its cues from Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" and Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up"— adds a special somethin' somethin' to the proceedings. It simultaneously seems completely modern and totally retro which, to us, fits the definition of a "timeless" recording. Now, don't get it twisted, we're not saying that this song is an instant all-time classic or anything, but it's been #ONREPEAT for us all day long.

Oh, and did we mention that Robin Thicke gets slapped in the face BY A FOOT in it?!?

More on this video to come shortly; specifically, a breakout feature on T.I., who we have NEVER seen having this much fun. Now, if you'll excuse us, we're going to watch the video for the fortieth time today.
