Richie Sambora Exits Bon Jovi Tour, Band Cites "Personal Reasons" As Cause

Bon Jovi is currently on the road in support of the legendary hair metal band's latest release, What About Now (which debuted at #1 on the charts a few weeks back). Longtime singer Jon Bon Jovi, drummer Tico Torres and keyboardist David Bryan are all resting comfortably aboard the Bon Jovi private jet on the band's current leg of the tour, which made a stop in Calgary last night. However, guitarist Richie Sambora did not join his bandmates for the gig yesterday, after which the band released a statement on BonJovi.com that read as follows: "Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg. All shows will go on as scheduled."

While there is currently no additional information available regarding Sambora's personal issues, some are speculating that he might have fallen off the wagon again. The singer most recently spent time in rehab in 2011 after a long tour, and has long battled alcoholism and other substance abuse issues.

Jon Bon Jovi, who has been through this routine a few times already, told last night's audience in Calgary that "I had two choices -- pack up and go home or give you everything I got .... Richie Sambora won't be performing for a while. If there's ever a night I need you, it's tonight, Calgary!" (via the Los Angeles Times)

Whatever personal issues Sambora is currently struggling with, everyone here at VH1 wishes him and his family the best of luck in getting the help that he needs, and look forward to him reuniting with his Bon Jovi bandmates when the time is right.
