First Dibs: Could The New Video From Psy Go Viral?

Just how chummy are One Direction’s Harry Styles and actress Emma Watson? The Deftones’ former bassist passes away and Oklahoma ditches its state song, all in today’s First Dibs.

  • Global sensation Psy has released the video for his new single “Gentleman.” Though it remains to be seen whether the clip will take the world by storm a la “Gangnam Style,” there’s probably nothing wrong with adding more K-pop to your playlist. [Billboard]
  • Emma Watson dishes about her friendship (or lack thereof?) with One Directon's Harry Styles. Catch the scoop ahead of tonight’s MTV Movie Awards (9/8c). [MTV]
  • Former Deftones bassist Chi Cheng died yesterday at 42 years old. One of the nu-metal band’s founding members, Cheng was left in a semi-conscious state after a car accident in November 2008. [NME]
  • The Flaming Lips’ “Do You Realize??” is no longer the official song of the band’s home state, Oklahoma. Governor Mary Fallin failed to renew an executive order from her predecessor, Democrat Brad Henry, which designated the 2002 single as the state's song. Fallin cited other executive priorities when asked about the decision. [Huffington Post]
