#ONREPEAT: We've Been Up All Night Spinning Daft Punk's "Get Lucky"

It is not out of the realm of possibility to think that the release of Daft Punk's upcoming LP, Random Access Memories, will be one of the year's highest selling releases. The band did not, as rumored, make an appearance at Coachella this weekend, but that did not stop them from being the most talked about musical act in the entire world. A one-minute teaser commercial featuring an excerpt of "Get Lucky," the album's first single, was released during Saturday Night Live and went on to trend worldwide on Twitter for nearly 48 hours.

Although we've only heard one minute of the song so far, that hasn't stopped zealous fans (like us!) from playing "Get Lucky" #ONREPEAT for the last few days. The discolicious track, which features vocals by Pharrell Williams and some truly funky guitar licks courtesy of Chic's Nile Rodgers, has already been turned into a 20 minute song by an enterprising Soundcloud user, and seems poised to be one of this year's Song of the Summer candidates.

As anyone either attending or watching the livestream of Coachella this weekend will attest, EDM acts were frequently outdrawing more traditional acts who play guitar, bass and drums. Daft Punk, despite reportedly relying mainly on live instrumentals for most of the songs on RAM (not to mention being Francophile robots), are perhaps positioned to be the genre's breakout stars with the release of this record that looks to appeal to EDM-loving millenials, the hipster cognoscenti, and Disco Stu in equal measures. WE UP ALL NIGHT TO GET LUCKY!
