2012 was an incredible year for Psy. His uber-viral video for “Gangnam Style” became the first video in the history of the Internet to reach 1 billion streams, bringing K-Pop to an international audience. Not to mention that he got signed to School Boy Records (Justin Bieber’s label,) performed for President Obama and starred in his very own Emerald Nuts Super Bowl commercial. Basically, Psy was everywhere.
Just when we thought we had heard the last of Psy, he released his latest song, “Gentleman,” along with another hilarious dance video. The video for “Gentleman” has elements reminiscent of “Gangnam Style” like dancing through someone else’s legs, elevator shenanigans and, of course, sexy women. Watch it for yourself and see what we mean. Since its release on April 13, 2013, “Gentleman” has racked up over 300 million views.
Psy stopped by VH1 headquarters this morning to surprise one of his biggest fans, Jason Dundas, on VH1 Big Morning Buzz Live With Carrie Keagan. After the excitement from his surprise appearance calmed down, he and the Buzz crew talked about his new song, and he even showed JD some of his new moves.
At the time of this writing, “Gangnam Style” has about 1.5 billion views (half a billion more than it had when it hit the 1 billion mark in December 2012) so at this rate we may be celebrating it’s 2 billionth view sooner than we realize. We’re expecting to be hearing a lot more from Psy in 2013 so we thought it was fitting he get The Scoop treatment. From the coolest experience he’s had after “Gangnam Style’s” release to what his favorite viral video is, find out the nine things you never knew about Psy!
