Yeah They Can Sing, But These 10 Artists Also Have Super Unique Speaking Voices

We're all guilty of falling in love with vocals that our favorite singers belt out, but are their speaking voices equally as special?

Whether they generate favorable reactions, seem reminiscent of nails on a chalkboard, or come off as plain disingenuous, we've put together a list of 10 artists who command attention every time they sing speak. On the following pages, you'll hear high pitches, faux accents, and silky-smooth tones that massage your eardrums; when it's all said and done, make sure you take our poll to crown the artist with the most unique speaking voice. Now have at it.

MICHEL'LE

Currently starring on the second season of TV One's R&B Divas, this talented singer from the '90s is well known for her squeaky speaking voice that more so resembles a child than a grown ass woman.

MADONNA

Madge might be an Italian girl from Michigan, but she's been known to fall into a faux Brit accent. Prim and proper and perhaps suffering a vocal identity crisis, this international pop star gets a pass for being one of the best to ever entertain us.

MACY GRAY

In a word: raspy. With her distinctive vocal offerings and outgoing personality, Macy's managed to keep our attention long after her most commonly known single "I Try" took off in 2000.

PRINCE

Whether you're a fan of his incredible production talent, knack for playing multiple instruments, or his ability to have both men and women lose their minds at the very sight of him, there's no doubt that Prince Rogers Nelson's silky voice is one of the most tantalizing to ever caress the human ear.

MARILYN MANSON

Putting the loads of face makeup and color contacts aside, Marilyn Manson's throaty speaking voice has always been very pronounced. Taking that a step further, his unique way of enunciating almost nods at a British accent, but the "Beautiful People" rocker is actually from Ohio.

CYNDI LAUPER

With a high pitched childlike voice, this Ozone Park, Queens native also boasts an accent unmistakable accent that's both charming and relentless. She's a real New Yawkuh!

DMX

When he's not rapping, Dark Man X can be found barking, grunting and/or speaking in a very distinct and gritty manner. His deep speaking voice and cadence is super recognizable, whether you're a fan of his music or not.

BJORK

Very few things about Bjork aren't awesome, including her speaking voice. Her staccato Icelandic accent contributes beautifully to the overall experience that is her vocal delivery- in person and in song.

MICHELLE WILLIAMS

This former Destiny's Child member can certainly sang, but her mid-west speaking voice can often sound a bit froggy and borderline raspy.

MICHAEL JACKSON

The King of Pop had a vocal range that knocked our socks off, but despite his natural speaking voice being deep, he chose to talk in a softer, more gentle tone that almost sounded childlike.
