The first-ever YouTube Awards took place in New York on Sunday, filling our award season void in eccentric fashion. Featuring an eclectic roundup of today’s biggest performers with awards determined by their fans, the show paid tribute to the power of the internet in moments concocted solely for their viral potential. Prior to Lady Gaga’s performance, she walked the red carpet sans pants but with an interesting set of false teeth, suggesting she had had her fair share of Halloween candy and then some.

Once the show was underway, Gaga performed new song, “Dope,” reminding us that she’s just as capable of wowing us with her voice and a piano as she is showing up to major events wearing weird stuff.
With ARTPOP one week away, can Gaga bounce back and make us forget about Miley, Katy, and Drake completely?

In addition to Gaga, the night boasted a tasty sampling of new releases. Self-proclaimed Rap God Eminem gave audiences an early look at The Marshall Mathers LP 2 and celebrated his Artist of the Year win, while Arcade Fire shook off any hint of Sunday night blues with a live version of “Afterlife.” Starring It Girl Greta Gerwig and directed by Spike Jonze, the live video performance was a winning combination for anyone playing a game of Indie Bingo at home. Also, it rules.
