You know what was better that your angsty teenage years? Everything. But just because that period of extreme insecurity, emotional volatility and irrational arguments with  parents are behind us (mostly), doesn't me we can't look back and chuckle at the days gone past. Michelle Branch and Alanis Morissette undoubtedly got me through the days of catty girl-fights, brutal break-ups and inexplicable hostility... towards life. Vote now and decide whether Alanis's "You Oughta Know" or Michelle's "Are You Happy Now?" satisfies your rage spells with more fiery finesse. All hail the queens of sass.

Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" - YOU OUGHTA KNOW WHY I LIKE THIS SONG. Sorry. Was feeling a little angsty there for a sec. I'm good now. This song was written by Alanis along with the man who produced it, Glen Ballard. He was also involved in Michael Jackson's "Thriller" - so I think it's safe to say the man knows how to make good music. The song reached Top 10 in the US, and achieved international acclaim as well. Alanis totally mesmerizes in this video with her sparkling cries, even though the music video doesn't have a lot going on. Guess a stellar pair of pipes makes up for it.

Michelle Branch's "Are You Happy Now?" - This catchy angry-gal anthem was written by Michelle herself and Grammy Award-winning producer John Shanks. The song made Top 20 - probably because there were a lot of rage-saturated tweens at the time who found the belt-y song totally awesome. Thus the repeat & replay routine. The music video is pretty simple, consisting primarily of scenes with the brunette beauty sitting on a bench. Sometimes she's standing. Sometime's she's even screaming. Oh, and the colors change too. But hey, it was the early 2000's... go easy on her.
