Every year there's always a crop of breakout stars but what about those who have been around for awhile? 2013 saw the return of a number of artists who raced back to prominence by topping the charts. Among the most notable returns are Justin Timberlake and Daft Punk, both of who released new albums after nearly almost a decade of no new music. The easily dominated the year in music thanks to their radio-friendly jams and diehard fans' zealous appetite.

Then there were the aging rockers who returned with a vengance. Both Nile Rodgers and David Bowie took the spotlight away from Miley Cyrus just long enough to remind everyone that age is nothing but a number. It was hard to believe that people were suddenly talking about both of these guys again but it sure did feel good. If only Bowie could release more music videos featuring Tilda Swinton in 2014. Yes, please? Great, thanks!

So as we close out the year, let's take a moment to celebrate these artists' returns and hope that they continue to make memories in 2014.
