Bobby V Gets Grown And Sexy In "Koko Lovely"

Bobby V's getting his grown and sexy on with a new beard and a new single y'all! That's right, we got the video for Bobby's latest single, "Koko Lovely" for you and it's got some eye candy for the fellas. As brought to you in our VH1 exclusive this past September, Bobby V made a promise to his fans that only you can decide if he's kept with the release of his new EP, Peach Moon (released Dec. 10), and subsequently his brand-new video, "Koko Lovely." When we caught up with the V-man after his NYC performance at the Soul Factory Presents showcase, the Atlanta-based music maker said that he was on a mission to make "good music" — minus the ratchetness and raunchiness. Bobby V made known to the world his intention to deliver some next-level music that enlightens and uplifts, as well as entertains.

The visuals for "Koko Lovely" may be without the ratchet and raunch, but some may say it's still racy thanks to the scantily clad females (yup, there are two) sharing their goodies for an admiring Bobby. If you can get past the eye candy, take note of the live instrumentation on this single, which Bobby also spoke of during our interview and can definitely be heard — and hopefully appreciated — on this track. In fact, props to Bobby, an accomplished piano player in his own right, for bringing musicianship back in a big way on his latest six-song release that begins with a spoken word collabo with fellow Atlantian, hip-hop producer and rapper Big Rube.

The intro track (produced by Murphy Mitchell, Bobby Wilson and J Leron, written by Big Rube) had me entertaining thoughts of culling through my bookshelf for that beloved videocassette copy of Love Jones. Other tracks, like "Koko Lovely", may have you conjuring up thoughts of D'Angelo's "Brown Sugar" and "Jonz In My Bonz" a la 1995, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes, you gotta go back in order to move forward. Bobby V may be giving us a taste of where he's headed musically with the last track of his new EP, my favorite, "Never Give Up" (produced by Murphy Mitchell, Bobby Wilson and J Leron, written by Bobby Wilson and Jeff B). This song delivers on that promise to do better, get back to love, and get us bopping our heads all at the same time.

Bobby V's Peach Moon is available now on iTunes, so after you check out his new single be sure to check out the EP.
