They say that only the good die young, and that definitely holds true for rock 'n' roll. Too many talented musicians were taken from us far too soon after falling victim to the ravages of deadly drugs.
Although being a rock star might seem like a dream, the seedy underbelly of the music scene can quickly turn life into a nightmare. In a environment full of temptations, addictions soon rear their ugly heads, crippling some of our beloved heroes and cutting them down in their prime. From legends like to Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, to modern classics like Amy Winehouse and Whitney Houston, we mourn their losses every day.
It's a depressingly long role call of folks who've fallen, but we're determined to never let them (or their art) be forgotten. Head up to the gallery above for a comprehensive list of the musicians who were overtaken by drugs and alcohol. Thankfully, their music continues to live on.
